Our guidelines · version 1 · 2026

Seven principles for tech that brings people together.

What we build, what we refuse to build, and why. A short text that holds us to account.

A social app should be judged on a single question: did it lead to a real meeting?

Not on time spent on screen. Not on the number of swipes. Not on the data harvested. That is the standard 2G Labs holds itself to for every one of its projects, starting with ToGather.

The seven principles

  1. Real life first

Our apps have succeeded when you close them to go and meet someone. Every feature must bring you closer to meeting in person, close to home.

  2. Social mixing as an asset

We want to help everyone step outside their bubble. That's why, alongside Balanced mode, ToGather offers a Discovery mode that brings together people from different backgrounds.

  3. Screen time is not a goal

No swiping, no infinite scroll, no never-ending conversations: the app does the matchmaking for you. You fill in your profile, you receive invitations, you go out.

  4. Quality over quantity

Monthly usage limits prevent spam and hogging, and give everyone a chance to be invited. Better one meetup you actually show up for than ten you forget.

  5. Your data is not a product

We collect what the service needs to work, we ask for explicit consent for sensitive data, and we sell no personal data whatsoever.

  6. Safety by default

Group meetups, reporting and blocking, active moderation, safety rules applied before every invitation: trust is built in from the design stage.

  7. Transparency

We explain how our products work — including our algorithms — and why they suggest what they suggest. When we get something wrong, we say so, and we fix it.

In practice

This website follows these principles.

A principle you don't apply to yourself is just a slogan.

  • AccessibilityKeyboard navigable, checked contrast, animations you can switch off. Our statement
  • GamesMini-games woven through the site that actually end, with no scores and no data collection. Try one
  • RestraintA lightweight static site, hosted in France, with no external dependencies.
